TechTalk: The Gadgets of 2012

Today’s gadgets and gizmos just won’t stop evolving and improving, and the technology giants just won’t stop innovating. After surfing the net, we found out another batch of technology’s coolest gadgets on display at the IFA Technology Fair in Berlin. Here are some of the most tempting displays.

1. Samsung Galaxy 7.7 Tablet

The Samsung Galaxy 7.7 is 7.8 millimeters thin and weighs only 12 ounces. It integrates the company’s “Super AMOLED Plus” display technology which delivers “brilliant, crisp and high contrast colors” for an excellent viewing experience. Web pages, PowerPoint presentations, and news apps can be viewed with minimal zooming or scrolling. The ‘S Pen’ is a pen input technology which allows users to draw, write and send handwritten images and notes via text message and instant messaging.

3. LG Smartscan Mouse

This, says LG will “open a new era for scanners” .. well, maybe not just for scanners, but also for the ever useful mouse. This new innovation is a mouse which comes with a built-in scanner. Users will just click the Smart Scan button on the left side of the mouse, then run it over the material to be scanned. The user can then save the scanned image in a variety of file types, or dragged and dropped into a document or application. What’s more, LG says the technology used called Optical Character Recognition can convert a scanned Microsoft Word document that can then be edited as needed. This super mouse can scan page sizes of up to A3.

4. Toshiba No-Glasses 3D TV
What more could we say? Except that this television creates the illusion of depth even without the sometimes annoying 3D glasses. The technology by Toshiba sends images of different perspectives to the right eye, and others to the left creating the 3-dimensional effect.

5. Designer 3D TV Glasses
Okay, so for those who in 2012 would still love to watch 3D with the glasses, then check out these designer 3D TV glasses by no less than Lacoste and Calvin Klein. Seems like fashion is evolving as fast as technology itself. These glasses are priced similar to that of the regular pair, but these have curved lenses and are definitely suited for stylish 3D viewing.

6. Sony Cyber-shot TX55

The Cyber-shot TX55 is currently the world’s thinnest camera. It takes 16.2 megapixel still images and has full HD video. The back panel has 8.3cm or 3.3 inches of touch screen for viewing photos and movie clips, and, the most exciting part is that it has 3D shooting options. What the camera does is grab a pair of frames in quick succession after the shutter button is pressed, and then estimates its depths to create a three-dimensional still image.

7. Super Portable Notebooks

Toshiba was one of the several tech giants to launch a new super portable notebook. The Portégé Z830 Ultrabook weighs at about 2.5 pounds, (1.12kg) and less that a half-inch (15.9mm) thick.
