Kids and teens these days are way too advanced for their age.  Maybe its the food they eat, the atmosphere of competence even in early age, or just the genes slowly morphing into highly-advanced creatures.  Whatever the reason is, it is now common that 2-3 year olds can already operate a computer, and teenagers more tech savvy than the general adult population.   And where do they get the information? Mostly television for kids, but for teens, there is the internet.   We cannot deny the convenience the internet has given us, but this convenience, when abused and uncontrolled can lead to serious trouble.  There are countless internet safety tips which readers can be familliar of, what we will be discussing today are tips focused on protecting your kids and teens from the perils of internet surfing.   Tip number 1:  Educate your child on the risks involved.   To do this, the parents or guardians themselves must know the advantages and disadvantages of the use of the internet.  Parents must be familiarized with social networks, chatrooms, and other sites wherein there is an avenue for sharing personal information as these are often the areas where criminals find and lure their victims.  There are ways to control the sites viewed by your kids like turning on your computer’s firewall.   Parents may also ask the help of trained IT personnel to handle internet safety needs.   Tip number 2:  Regularly monitor your child’s internet usage.   This may be a tricky thing to do especially when it comes to teens, as they may view this as an infringement on their privacy....

TechTalk: Auza.Net provides internet connection for Sandugo Trade Expo events

Auza.Net, Bohol’s premium IT services provider joined the 4-day Sandugo Trade Expo sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry held at the Island City Mall.  Aside from putting up a booth together with other businesses at ICM’s The Block, the company also turned the whole area into a WiFi Zone.   Auza.Net also provided for the internet used during the Corporate Citizenship in the Food and Tourism Sectors forum held at Island CIty Mall’s The Prawn Farm.   The Sandugo Trade Expo opened formally last Wednesday, July 20, 2011.  Exhibitors in the food category stayed inside the mall beside the food court while the rest were provided booths inside ICM’s The Block.  Participants of the exhibit included SME’s from Capiz, Negros, Cebu, Siquijor and many more.  Livelihood projects of Local Government Units and NGO’s also displayed in the trade expo.   Last July 22, and in time for the celebration of Bohol Day, twin activities of the DTI were simultaneously held at the Cultural center for the Diskwento Caravan at the Bohol Cultural Center with DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo, and at the Metro Center Hotel for the SME Summit.  Yesterday was Green Growth Awareness Day held at the Island City Mall activity center. The four day expo will be culminated Sunday, July 24, 2011....

BISU student tops 2011 Forester Licensure Exam

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 163 out of 374 passed the Forester Licensure Examination given by the Board for Foresters in the cities of Manila and Davao this July 2011, and another student from the Bohol Island State University has brought home the bacon. Lebert Ibay Omac from BISU – Bilar Campus landed number one on the top 10 examinees with an average of 85.90. The mass oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Professional Oath will be held before the Board in Manila on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Centennial Hall, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Roxas Blvd. Manila and in Davao City on September 2, 2011. Tickets for the oathtaking will be available from July 20, 2011 until August 16, 2011.
