Senator Grace Poe, the top senator in the 2013 elections, delivered the keynote speech during the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Bohol Chronicle held at the Bohol Tropics Resort on May 16, 2014. The senator thanked the Boholanos for the support during the last elections and reported that the FOI Bill or Freedom of Information Bill, has been passed at the senate. She also congratulated the management and staff of the newspaper for its success in the last six decades where even during the martial law in the 1970’s, the newspaper continued to be published regularly.

Bohol Governor Edgar M. Chatto, Tagbilaran City Mayer John Geesnell “Baba” Yap and 3rd district representative Cong. Art Yap also delivered their messages of congratulations to the management and staff of the newspaper. Several government officials, former governors and various personalities from the private sector also attended the event.
